As an artist who has, in the past year, started working with chalk paint, I find it is quite difficult because the paint dries so quickly - a lot faster than it takes to finish a painting or a piece of furniture. Typically chalk paint is packed in jars with wide lids (I assume to allow a bigger brush access to the paint. However, when you are like I am, and producing more intricate paintings, you use small amounts at a time. My challenge was finding a way to store my paints without subjecting so much of it to the air each time I opened a jar. After doing a great amount of research, I found Oaklyn condiment bottles. They are a strong plastic. They are typically used for condiments such as ketchup and mustard at restaurants. But for me they are perfect. They are easy to fill. I can squeeze out the exact amount I will need. They have a cap that clicks on tight and is actually attached to the bottle which protects it from getting lost. Since they are tall and skinny, I can actually fit more bottles of paint in my painting cart. Since the cap clicks on so tight, it keeps the paint from drying - my ultimate goal! One pleasant surprise I had that I hadn't thought of before, because of their size, they are much easier to handle than the jars the chalk paint originally comes in. The bottles are transparent enough that the paint colors are not muted and you can see what color you are choosing. I was able to write on the bottles with Sharpies. This simple fix has made my art projects so much easier and allows my paint to last a lot longer. Considering the price of chalk paint. This is a very good thing.
